Shielding Steel with Monarch Alloys: The Power to Protect

Monarch Alloys Limited is a company incorporated in Nigeria. Monarch Alloys Limited has set up a pipe coating facility with a capacity of 2 million square meters per annum at Ikorodu, Lagos Nigeria.

Onshore oil and gas transportation pipelines require adequate protection against corrosion to ensure reliable service over a long period of time. The company's coating unit has an annual external coating capacity of 2 million square meters and an annual internal coating capacity of 1 milllion square meters.

It deploys external coating like Fusion Bonded Epoxy(FBE), dual layer FBE, 3 LPE, 3 LPP and Polyurethane to prevent corrosion, and liquid epoxy solvent base and solvent free internal coating to improve product flow. The company also has capacity for concrete weight coating.

Team

Our internal coating process ensures high quality and durability by thoroughly preparing surfaces, applying coatings uniformly using advanced techniques, and curing them for optimal hardness. Rigorous inspections and quality control checks follow, with final finishing touches and careful packaging to ensure each product meets our high standards.

Concrete weight coating (CWC) is a plant-applied coating used to provide negative buoyancy for offshore pipelines or for river or road crossing applications. Monarch Alloy’s plants have the capability of handling both domestic and international projects. Concrete Weight Coatings are applied to Offshore Pipelines. Concrete Weight Coating on pipes ensures that gas and oil pipelines will not float (negative buoyancy) ones they are installed in sea and protects them against collision damage. To achieve concrete with a high density, iron ore is added. Concrete Weight Coating is always steamcured. This process is not subject to weather conditions. Concrete coating by compression method is applied to pipe diameters from 3” and up to 60” with coating thickness ranging from 1” to 7” and concrete densities from 140 pounds to 190 pounds per cubic feet. The compression method can apply concrete coating over any type of corrosion coating e.g. FBE, collar and three layer polyethylene or polypropylene. These are essentially applied to add weight to sub-sea or subkha pipelines.

Our external coating process starts with thorough surface preparation to remove contaminants and ensure a clean base. Next, a primer is applied to improve adhesion and durability. The selected coating is then evenly applied using advanced techniques such as spraying or brushing. After curing to achieve optimal hardness and bonding, the surface undergoes detailed inspection and quality control checks. The process concludes with final finishing touches and cleaning, resulting in a robust and high-quality external coating.
